Hub Connectors

Material: Aluminium
Manufacturing process: CNC
Advantages of Aluminium: Light and strong

6-way Hub

6-way hub with 6 inlets on the side of the hub to take 6 struts.

The hub also has 6 x M16 threads on top and 6 M16 threads on bottom of hub so recycled low maintenance material triangular boards can be attached to the 6-way hub.

The hub has letters on the side of the Hub to identify which strut goes in which inlet hole.

The hub also has letters on top and bottom surface of the hub to help identify which triangular board goes in which specific place on the hub.

5-way Hub

The 5-way hub has 5 inlet holes to take 5 struts.

This hub make the gorgeous pentagon shape you can see on your Home in a Dome.

The 5-way Hub has 5 x M16 threads top and bottom to take M16 bolts to attach your
recycled triangular low maintenance boards to your hub.

The hub has letters on the side of the hub to identify which strut goes in which inlet hole.

The hub also has letters on top and bottom surface of the hub to help identify which triangular board goes in which specific place on the Hub.

4-way Hub

The 4-way hub has 4 inlet holes to take 4 struts.

This hub is based nearest the ground in your Home in a Dome.

The 4-way hub has 4 x M16 threads top and bottom to take M16 bolts to attach low
maintenance triangles.

The Hub has letters on the side of the hub to identify which strut goes in which inlet hole.

The hub also has letters on top and bottom surface of the hub to help identify which triangular board goes in which specific place on the Hub.

3-way Hub

The 3-way hub has 3 inlet holes to take 3 struts.

This hub is used as part of the door frame design.

The 3-way hub has 3 x M16 threads top and bottom to take M16 bolts to attach triangular boards.

The hub has letters on the side of the hub to identify which strut goes in which inlet hole.

The hub also has letters on top and bottom surface of the Hub to help identify which triangular board goes in which specific place on the Hub.

Struts

Aluminium Struts

The struts that connect to the hubs are square 38 mm Aluminium tubes with M10 size holes in them. The M10 holes are designed to take a double spring loaded spigot which shoots up and down respectively to lock the strut inside the hub.

The struts are colour coded and have Letter identification on them to ensure the correct strut is inserted in the right inlet in the hub. The struts are various sizes and are lettered from A to K. The wall of the aluminium Struts is 3.2 mm wide.

Spigots

Double Spring-loaded Spigots

The double spring-loaded spigots are made of stainless steel and are positioned at each end of the aluminium struts. The spigot shoots up and down inside the strut inlet inside the hub locking the strut into place.

Triangular Boards

Recycled Plastic Triangular Boards

The triangular boards are made of recycled plastic which is manufactured at a temperature of 44 degrees C and are suitable for non-tropical areas of the globe. They are various sizes and are 19 mm thick. The triangles are available in White, Black, Blue and Brown.

The recycled plastic boards in standard form have a fire rating of Class E. Development is under way to incorporate a fire resistant material in the plastic granule mixture used to make the board. The optional Recycled Plastic with fire retardant will be made available as an option on the improved recycled plastic being made available by the manufacturer of the recycled plastic board.

We recommend Aerogel Board for tropical areas of the globe. Aerogel Board was used on the NASA shuttle craft for its tremendous insulation properties and will be well suited to tropical areas of the globe.

Silicone Rubber

Silicone Rubber Beading and Rectangular Section

Silicone rubber beading attaches to the 19 mm sides of each triangular board. The beading is made of 80 SH silicone rubber and the top of the beading acts as a cover strip on top of triangle boards both outside your Home in a Dome and inside your Home in a Dome.

Silicon rubber is also used between the ground-based struts and the Damp Proof Course membrane (DPC). The rectangular section silicone rubber is 38 mm wide by 20 thick and is cut to length on site. The rectangular silicone is 80 SH (rigid) and is also used around the door frame aperture between the struts and the recycled plastic door frame.

Hemp Wool

Hemp Wool Insulation

Hemp Wool is used as insulation material for its tremendous insulation properties and because it is a non-toxic sustainable material. Hemp Wool will absorb moisture. The Hemp Wool is positioned in the 200 mm wall cavity of your Home in a Dome.

Flooring

Flooring is to your own personal specification. You may wish to onsider recycled materials. Some clients prefer cork as it is warm and sustainable and non-toxic.

Windows

Windows Direct Glazed and Opening Windows

Windows are made of recycled plastic and are positioned in reveals made by the cutting of your triangular boards. Non-opening windows are direct glazed in the reveal and are double-glazed, sealed units, as an option you could choose triple-glazed units.

Opening windows are based in the aperture made by cutting the triangle boards and form a reveal and fitting a recycled plastic window frame and casement hinged at the top of the window with a “stay” at the bottom. Only larger triangular board triangles are used for ppening windows to comply with fire escape regulations.

Under building regulations there must be adequate light. There is a balance to be struck between insulating your Home in a Dome to comply with building regulations and having the desired light for your own personal preference.

Door

The door is curved in line with that of your Home in a Dome building and is made of low-maintenance, recycled plastic. The door is on cranked hinges which throw the door in outward direction before the door turns open in a similar action to as you would find on aircraft used for domestic travel. The door has a triangular head (top) of the door known in the building world as a Norman Door.
