Home in a dome Tent Details

On 4v Tent rendering I’m showing 3 doors on 10 m 4v Tent. Currently this Home in a dome Tent only has windows (switchable glass clear to opaque at touch of a button this will look great on video) in roof above bedroom on mezzanine level.

I’m hoping the three doors will be considered adequate fire exits as they are circa 1950 mm wide.

Ventilation could be an issue as currently there are no opening windows.

A possible solution is round vent grills in the glass of doors used lots in bathrooms.the doors are unusual being similar to gullwing doors seen on Lamborghini Countsch and some BMW based sports cars so they hinge at top of door on gas filled hinge system opening in upward direction so not right or left hung.

You may wish to add a three light (3 triangles) in glass to make a wall based window for lounge.

The aluminium walls both inside and outside are 2 mm thick aluminium 1050 grade sheets cut into triangles.

The internal triangle are white powder coated triangles with the “joins” being black silicon rubber. This I think will look great as it will show off the triangle shapes and the hexagon and pentagon shapes.

The Home in a dome Tent is using lots of black recycled plastic mainly 38 mm which is used for struts which connect to hubs however these are in cavity wall and will not be seen once wall triangles have been attached to hubs using bolts with a cap over each bolt the caps being round black silicon rubber to cover hex bolts.

The bolts that secure struts in place won’t be seen because they sit underneath the aluminium triangles both inside and outside walls.

There is a question mark over water proofing the outside joins between the triangles that make up the outside walls.

While black silicon rubber would look great detailing the aluminium triangles I feel a wide roof flashing strip made of lead used on some traditional roof structures being approximately 50 mm wide would be a more efficient water proofing system.

At the centre of hubs that make up the dome is a central services hole. This hole has a thread allowing for lightning rods to be screwed into them.

So from outside the dome the dome will look similar to a giant pin cushion from the height of two triangles up. We don’t want to poke out anyone’s eye by having lightning rods too low.
